Jet skiing in fall colors

Over Thanksgiving weekend we did things a little different. I had some time off of work so we decided to go to my grandparents river house in Lake Havasu. We left Wednesday night and got back Monday night. It was nice to just get away together and relax. And yes we took Sage with us too. She really enjoyed it. I think she might have enjoyed the water more then us.
We played on the Jet Skis, went under the London Bridge, went for golf cart rides ( sage's favorite part of the day), and went swimming. We had a great time, other then it being a little windy and temperatures in the 60s.

Look what we found under under the London Bridge
Ministry of Magic please.... or at least she wishes. She has never used the visitors entrance before...

Welcome to the Family

Well, I know what you are thinking .... what happened to seeing the new apartment, right? Well those pictures are just being finished up and they will surely be the next blog.
It has been a while since we have blogged and that is only because we have not had the Internet until about a week a go. So I have been trying to catch up on everything that I needed to. So finally its time to blog.
Since my parents have moved away I have been missing them terribly and the adorable puppies they took with them. Barkley and mischievous little fellow and Sadie my long time best friend. So lately I have been feeling like I want a furry friend too and after much deliberation and much talking and bargaining with Michael he finally decided to let me have a dog :-D

This is Sage our newest member of the family!!

We decided to try and rescue a puppy from a shelter because there are A LOT out here and many need good homes, and since it was our first dog we knew it would the most cost efficient way to go. After much thought and research we finally found a place that would work with us like we needed. Out here you have to fill our 5-7 pages of paper work just to be considered for an adoption. I thought that was insane. Every place we went it felt like they were trying to make it so difficult to adopt. So we finally found a place that worked with us to find a dog and that made it convenient. After all shouldnt that be their goal. Make it convenient for people to adopt a dog and they will otherwise they will just go to a pet store pay their $2,000 dollars for a dog and be on their way.
Sage is spunky and a ball of fun. She has so much energy, she is a rottweiler/shepherd mix. So far we love her.

She was so tired after we brought her home yesterday evening
and after a long drive in the car

This morning she was so full of energy and excited to see us!!

She was extremely tired after our walk this morning.

An Answered Prayer

An Answered Prayer

I know the picture doesn't look like much and not everyone will look at it and see beauty. But I do! We received rain yesterday in California. It wasn't a lot but it sure was beautiful. It has been kind of foggy every morning for a the past week and every morning I pray for rain. Yesterday morning started out with the same fog and but it was a little colder than normal. So once again I said my prayer to let us receive rain . . . and we did! Everything was so beautiful after the rain. The pavement was sparkling, the trees looked a little greener, and the grass seemed to stand taller than it had before.

Nothing I have seen in California is quite as green as things in Minnesota so it is a little depressing every direction you look. Even though I have been in California for a while I still miss the beautiful green summers and chilling white winters. Michael on the other hand has lived in California his whole life except a two year break to South Africa/Botswana. Which really does not count considering the climate there is the exact same as Southern California. But as we talk about life and the future I find that we want the same things and our goals meet. He as well wants green and a white winter. It is very exciting for me to know that I will not have to stay in California forever. I plan to take what I can from it while I am here and then once we leave it will be alleluia!!

The picture is of the clouds in the sky over on the mountains. Michael took the picture while he was at work, I am sure he had a great view of the rain from his office window. I thought the clouds looked so cool. It amazes me the shapes they can take turtles, hearts, faces, elephants with wings but what ever shape the clouds really do have a mind of their own.

6 Days and Counting!

In 6 days Michael and I will be moving into a place of our own! We are very excited about it. We are getting an apartment on the other side of Murrieta and we have both been waiting (him patiently and me impatiently) for the time to come. We signed our papers about a month ago and got a great rate on the specific apartment that we wanted. It is a two bedroom 1 bath with a beautiful kitchen and pantry. It will be a big step for us and we are so excited to be moving through life together. We will have to post pictures as soon as we move in, so stay tuned!!

Michael is still working at the warehouse and he is really enjoying it. For the most part he is his own boss and since he is very motivated it works out great for everybody. They got their first big shipment in on Thursday and boy was he tired after work. It was the most work he has done in a long time. Their next shipment comes in on Monday so he is preparing himself now to have another long day.

As for me my last day at Build-A-Bear is on Tuesday. I am very excited to be moving on, but as always there are a few people that it is hard to say good bye too. I will be working at the Movie Experience in Murrieta where they know the "Bohne" name well. There has been a steady rotation of Larry and Caralee "Bohne Sons" working at the theater for about the past 9 years. So now it is finally a "Bohne Girl" going to work at the theater, and to be honest they seem pretty excited! I know I am.

Other than that we are just trying to survive the ever rising California heat . . . which I pretty much hate since it is all year long. But you have to take the good with the bad. ... We shall now ride off into the sunset (Michael)

New Job

Well, for those of you you don't know, I have a new job. I am the Warehouse manager for International Baghouse Supplies. We deal with air filtration systems at a commercial level. I get to ship stuff out, keep inventory of the warehouse, deal with freight companies that want our business. It fun. I'm starting my second week there. I like it. It is a lot better then my last job. Now I get to work 8 to 5 Monday through Friday. So i get to spent the nights and weekends with Brandee. And no more part-time job. I lucked out with this. Hopefully this will be the begginging of a new start for us.

Sweet Peach Cobbler

I have discovered something within the past couple of days. I really love to cook/bake. I love finding new recipes and watching Michael freak out as I don't follow it and he is not sure what is going to happen. So far everything has turned out and was delicious.

The other day Michael was feeling really sick the whole day and he was requesting stuff for me to fix him. Well, I had to run to work for a few hours and when I got home the request was Ramen Noodles and by the time that was done and cleaned up it was a Peach Cobbler request at Midnight. Only to discover we had no Vanilla ice cream which is his favorite with cobbler. So of course I had to run to the store to get some because my poor sick husband needed his cobbler. The cobbler was wonderful and even still warm when we got home so it was really nice. We both enjoyed the cobbler and surprisingly I did not regret running around town trying to find a store that was open at 12:20am!

Daisy the Hamster

Well, it you didn't know, Brandee loves dogs. A lot. That is one of the highlights of going to her parents house, "the puppies!" And as soon as we have room for one then we will be getting one. So to be nice, and because she asked for one, on Valentines day i bought her a hamster. And if you buy a hamster, then you need a hamster ball of course. Daisy (thats what we named her) loves that ball. She goes everywhere she can. If we open the door she will take off down the hallway.
We are learning what she likes to eat. She is getting to know us. It took a few days for her to open up to us but now she lets us pick her up. If we let her, she will climb all over us.
We love her. She has a fun personality.

Grad in the Family!

Well, I did it I graduated cosmetology school! It only took me 16 months but its over. I graduated on Friday February 13th. It was such a relief and it felt so good walking out of the school that I have hated and knowing that I never have to go back.
That day Michael drove me to school and picked me up so we could celebrate together instead of me driving myself home all excited. That would have been lame. So after we left school which was about 4:10pm we drove home to change our clothes, because I was in black and after wearing all black for the last 16 months I probably wont wear it again for a long, long time. So anyway, we changed and then went out to celebrate.
We ate at Macaroni Grill because the wait at Olive Garden (our favorite) was almost an hour. I had been up late the last two nights ensuring that I would in fact graduate on Friday, so I was tired and didn't think I would make it that long. I had never eaten at Macaroni grill it was very good. Their bread is delicious and the service was very good.
All in all it was great day and I did it. I graduated school, its a great accomplishment.

Oh one last thing I am still waiting on my state board date. It will come in a few weeks. So lets hope it is sooner rather than later =/

Back to School

Well, it is that lovely time that Brandee was looking forward to. She went back to school today. She only has one month left until she graduates. she was originally planning on graduating in Dec but she had a change of plans that caused her to take a leave of absence when i asked her to marry me for time and all eternity, which took place Dec 5.
Its rather nice to have a personal hair stylist. I never have to pay for a hair cut again.... which is nice considering that a hair cut costs $15.
Well, I'm just waiting to hear back from my background investigator for the sheriff's dept. All i should have left is my Psych exam, oh joy.
And thats that.

Welcoming the New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
It seems a new year always brings one thing ... new years resolutions. Well, I am tired of setting a goal and failing to achieve it. This year I am starting by making small goals to equal one big goal. For example instead of saying I am going to lose 30 lbs. I am going to say I want to do some sort of exercise 5 days a week. Whether its yoga for an hour or 30 minutes, or running or walking with Michael. Whatever it may be I want to be active for at least 30 minutes a day 5 days a week and if that makes me lose 30 lbs. great! If not at least I will not have a failed new years resolution.
Also I really want to try making healthy meals and learning proportion control. Sometimes it seems you think oh I cooked this meal myself so it can't be that unhealthy. But you eat 2 1/2 bowls of pasta the calories are going to add up. So if anyone has any good healthy meals let me know I would love to get my hands on some.
Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.
